[Hello, Luceti. Have you been enjoying the strange little time shifts that have been coming and going these past couple of months? Because Kari hasn't. In fact, she's in the middle of one right now, and it's extremely unpleasant. Why is that, you ask?]

[Because she was just inside the elevator when they suddenly decided to not exist anymore. Unfortunately, they only decided to stop existing on the floor she was on at the time, so there's nowhere for her to go. At least it didn't turn into a bottomless elevator shaft to drop her to her doom. But they did turn into some kind of hellish stairway-purgatory with no doors, no windows, and nothing but two sets of stairs going up and down that simply lead to walls.]

[Thankfully, she has her journal with her to live-blog the incident.]

It's been 20 minutes now.
I'm stuck in a building somewhere. Like, literally. The elevator disappeared and now I'm apparently stuck in the wall.
The possibility of escape seems low.
Updates to follow.

The first hour.
There's no windows in here. Not sure how much air I have. Probably a lot.
It's cold. And hot. I'm so hungry.
And I think I left some instant noodles in the microwave.

Hour 2 of Elevator Purgatory.
I'm starting to hear voices.
No, seriously, these walls are way too thin. Maybe if I knock loud enough the people on this floor will start to think the place is haunted?
I'm like this close to trying to break the wall down.

Hour 2 and 10 minutes.
Don't try to punch walls with your bare hands.
Especially using the arm you broke few weeks ago.
It will hurt and you will feel like a dumbass.

Hour 3.
All hope is lost.
I've resigned myself to Elevator Purgatory forever.
Tell my mom I love her.

[Okay she's clearly being a little overly dramatic. But she's bored, and this doesn't look like it's going away anytime soon, so have at it! Feel free to specify what time your character is responding to, otherwise I'll just assume Hour 3. EDIT: And for people who might try teleporting in to save her, there's also a 100% power-cap shift going on inside the room, so anyone who goes in will be stuck with her until the time shift ends!]

That is for the best, panic does little in the way of solving an issue.

Voice of doom? You haven't even heard my voice yet.

[It was still a strange one]

[With confirmation, Ginia grabs the rope out of her bag and quickly ties a loop that won't slip at one end. She loops it around the handrail before dropping the end with the loop down into the hole.]

[And once it's close enough for Kari to grab on, she'll step into the loop and holds on, calling up at Ginia.]

O-Okay, I think I got it!

You don't need a physical voice to be a Voice of Doom. People still use voice when they're writing too.

[Annnnd pull. Slowly, Ginia pulls on the other end of the rope, slowly feeding it up. She keeps an eye on the rope, keeping an eye on anything that might be catching or rubbing against anything too rough and began to wear through. Once she can see just the top of Kari's head, Ginia pulls a bit more before tying off the rope and heading back to the hole to pull her through.]

I see.

[Random, but alright]

I hadn't particularly heard of that, though most in my world communicate through written means.

[Kari couldn't help but feel a little nervous being pulled up like this, mostly afraid of the rope scraping against something and fraying to make her fall. She wouldn't be seriously hurt from this height, but it'd still be a pain for sure.]

[When she can finally see Ginia, she reaches out to take her hand, hoping that the strain of pulling on her arm won't bother the wound on her chest too much -- though that may just be wishful thinking. She has a pretty high pain tolerance, but she'll definitely be wincing when she gets pulled out.]

[She goes back and writes the word "literary" above the word voice and underlines it. Which he's free to ignore -- she's probably not going to explain it beyond that. The last thing she wants to to get sucked into a language lesson while stuck in this little room.]

Seriously? All the magic you have and you still haven't invented the telephone?

[...she really shouldn't be surprised, seeing as that's a common fantasy trope and all. But that's in fiction! Surely that can't be the case in reality too?]

[Ginia braces herself as she grabs Kari's hand, moving to hook an arm under Kari's arms to better haul her up. The wince doesn't go unnoticed and she moves more carefully as she pulls the younger woman out. Once Kari's finally out of the elevator shaft, Ginia quickly grabs her journal and writes out a message.]

You okay there? Any injuries?

[He does make a note of that, but he won't address it]

If you have magic to solve many problems, many kingdoms simply did not develop their technology until exposed to ones which did.

[Also Mazoku constantly undermining any sort of ease of communication. No sense in letting people organize themselves better after all]

[Well for starters, Kari is going to make a bit of a show of looking really confused as to why Ginia is still writing to her, but then mock comprehension and shakes her head -- there's no reason "Kari" would know Ginia is mute, after all, but still no reason she would question it -- that'd just be rude.]

Oh! No injuries, nope! I-I think an old tennis injury flared up a but when you pulled my arm, that's all.

[Says the girl who has never played a game of tennis in her life.]

But thanks for saving me! I seriously thought I'd have to start planning out my future in that stupid room.

And lack of convenient communication isn't considered a problem? Unless you guys have magic books like these journals back home.

If your rivals are planning to overthrow you, defense takes a priority. During the aftermath, creating sustainable recovery becomes the focus.

[Now that they're face-to-face and not communicating through a journal or a room that leads nowhere, there is something oddly familiar about Kari, but Ginia can't place it. Maybe they've passed by each other in a store or something. Ginia smiles and nods.]

You're welcome, though I don't doubt someone else would have helped you.\

[Ginia glances past at the hole in the wall and sighs.]

Good thing these buildings repair themselves.

Huh.

[His world sounds complicated. But then, are there really any worlds out there that aren't?]

I guess that makes sense. It takes a lot of resources to come up with new technology. My world had trouble with stuff like that too.

[Kari's eyes follow hers to the hole -- geeze, no wonder it was so loud in there. A simple thank you didn't really seem like enough for all the work that must have taken.]

Yeah, seriously. But I can't believe you actually did all that yourself! That's some crazy upper body strength you've got there.

Precisely.Though we have advanced recently in terms of weaponry. Though I suppose that is generally the case.

[Sword training with Souji and training in general with Lee has definitely built up her upper body strength. Ginia huffs sheepishly and looks over at the hole in the wall, rubbing the back of her head.]

I got lucky and hit a few weak spots in the wall, probably from the shift.

You don't know that... [He pouts. And he does manage to just barely pick up that las bit.]

And we are not dumb! At least, I'm not.

Really? Could've fooled me. Because you're doing a really good job of showcasing your level intellect here.

[So rude.]

Aww, don't be so modest! Even those weak spots had to have been tough for it to take as long as it did.

[But then she sighs, looking back at the elevator and then up at the stairs.]

What floor am I on, anyway? Hopefully further up than down? I live on the top floor, and climbing seven flights of stairs doesn't sound too appealing right now...

Fifth floor, so at least it's only two floors up. Want me to walk up you there?

[She thinks on that for a moment or two.]

Uhm. Well, actually, if you don't mind, I would kinda like to have someone with me just in case the staircase decides to so being stairs or something. Not that I know what it would turn into, but. Still.

[Given how finicky things have been, it's a legitimate concern.]

Let's hope that doesn't happen. Give me a moment to gather everything up then I'll walk up with you.

O-Okay! [She takes a step back for Ginia to gather everything up again, standing there a bit awkwardly for a moment before clearing her throat.] And. Uhm. Thanks.

[Mostly she wants someone there in case she over-exerts herself and has to go to the clinic or something. Her injuries were mostly healed by now, but that shot to the chest was pretty serious. Better not to take chances.]
