1. Can Kari recognize your character? Sure, as long as she never says anything. 2. Is your character's canon relatively similar or radically different in her world? I would prefer if they were all different! So go wild with them, have fun. o/ 3. Can Kari mention this to your character? Sure! 4. Can Kari "spoil" your character? Sure. 5. Will your character recognize Hoshikyo? I'll say sure for Shinji. He'll probably recognize her as some kind of mascot character from an old anime or something.
