Hello, Lucetizens!
[A pause. Let that sink in for a moment.]
It's weird, you know? If I hadn't gone home the first time, I'd have already spent a year here... [It almost sounds like she's going for a serious moment of reflection... but the smile pops back onto her face pretty much right away.] But what I'm really getting at is I never got a chance to re-introduce myself! So!
I am Hoshikyo, Luceti's newest magical girl! Some of you have probably already met me. I'm kinda hard to miss. You know. Being pink and sparklie and all. But that's besides the point!
What I'm really hoping to ask here is if there's anyone else in this village who lives as a part-time hero. And I don't mean you RPG protags or Shounen Jump wannabes. I mean, like, secret identity type hero or wears-a-cool-uniform hero. That kind of stuff! I mean, I know you're out there and all, but in a place like this it just makes sense for us hero-types to try and get along, you know?
Not... that I expect anyone to respond to this with their secret identity, of course. Because that'd be stupid. And if you do that? I'll call you stupid. Just getting that out of the way.

[After a few hours spent as Hoshikyo talking over the journals, she reverts back to her usual self (
normalesbian) to go about her day in a far more normal manner, stopping by the library to pick up a few dozen (yes, dozen) books before going shopping for some groceries. It'd be nice if she could just take advantage of the free restaurants here, but having to go outside everytime she wanted to eat? No way. She'd rather just continue her meager existence of living off of instant foods. Just like mom used to make, yep.]
[Despite her earlier countenance over the journals, she is starting to feel a little homesick. And she can't help but wonder what the others back home are up to right now... there's a definite gloomy air hanging over her as she heads back home, several large shopping bags in hand.]

[[ooc: Since a lot of Hoshikyo's canon deals with the idea of fictional worlds being real, please take a look at THIS POST if you are okay/not okay with 4th-Walling! Feel free to post to it even if they've already met, since it'd be pretty easy to handwave her just not recognizing someone right away. Additionally, any character is free to recognize Hoshikyo as though she exists in media within your character's canon, whether as the star of a shoujo manga series, a new brand of Vocaloid, a soft-drink mascot or whatever! My only condition is that recognizing Kari is off-limits.]]

[Reaction/Action]
Later however, while Rei was out and about, she happened to bump into the girl she'd spent some time with in the past, particularly at the Kaidankai. Kari would probably recognize her, though since their last meeting she had gained a mark on her forehead. She waved and approached, but definitely notes the gloom.]
Good afternoon, Kari-san. Would you like some help with your bags?
[Action]
...oh. Hi Rei. [She shuffles the bags in her hands for a moment. They were getting a little heavy, but--] Uhm. Are you sure? I mean. They're all kinda heavy...
[Action]
I don't mind at all. Are...you alright?
[Action]
Yeah... yeah. I'm okay. Just getting some shopping done. You know, thinking ahead and buying stuff that'll last awhile so I don't have to go out every day.
[Since it's starting to sink in that she'll be here awhile. Kari's never been very good at hiding her emotions -- she's never really had a reason to, after all.]
[Action]
Kari-san, really, I don't want to pry but you know if something's bothering you, you can talk to me.
[She hefts the bags and makes to follow, intending to let the other girl talk in her own time]
[Action]
[Or maybe she's really just that gloomy. She keeps up the same pace as she talks, keeping her eyes fixed ahead.]
Well. It's just... you know. Shopping for days in advance makes it seem like I know I'm still gonna be here. Like, just dealing with the fact that I'm not going home anytime soon.
...or I guess I could just say I'm homesick. That'd probably be easier, huh.
[Action]
It...is difficult, Kari-san. I know. And you...don't have anyone here do you?
[Action]
[She's trying to keep her tone fairly light, though whether or not it's actually working is anyone's guess.]
[Action]
[Really, Rei's never dared to dream that her mother might show up. That...would be asking for far, far too much. And she's not about to even entertain that thought now, so she decides to try and be more helpful.]
Kari-san, you're lonely, aren't you? I...know what that's like.
[Action]
[So she focuses on Rei instead. Maybe that way she can try and understand her own feelings better too.]
You do?
[Action]
My mother died when I was young. And...until I met Ami-chan and Usagi-chan and our other friends I didn't really have any friends. You've seen me using my spiritual powers. Imagine...how most Japanese people might react to that.
[Action]
[The word comes out before she can put much thought in it, if only because Kari tends to be more than a little awkward in conversation. Perhaps more so when it takes a serious turn. There's a short awkward pause before she talks again.]
Probably not well. I mean. People don't react well with things they don't understand, right?
[...something Kari learned the hard way.]
[Action]
[There are other things, of course, but Rei's not of a mind to talk about her father with strangers. Or with friends. Or...with much of anybody.]
But my point is, you...don't have to be lonely? Even here, I've made friends. People who can accept that sort of thing. [She pauses, a little awkwardly...]
And I like you, we're friends.
[Action] Sorry this is so late! Finally getting back into the swing of things with Kari...
[She actually stops and looks at Rei when she says that. It's not as though Kari's never made friends before -- back home, she never wanted them. And in all her adventures as Hoshikyo, she knows she's made a friend or two... but there was something different about someone saying it outright like that, rather than just waiting until that feeling of an acquaintanceship evolves into a friendship.]
[Of course, she's also never really had someone say outright that they liked her, save for perhaps Teruko... which is why her next few words come out as a bit of a jumbled embarrassed mess. Real-Kari is taking over for a second.]
Uhm. I mean. I like you too! Er. You know. Friends. Since friends like each other. Like friends. [...] And we're friends.
[And then she actually smiles.] ...thanks, Rei.
[Action] I don't mind. Tags come as they come.
Luceti, what are you doing. Stop!][Rei shifts the bags and reaches out, giving Kari a reassuring squeeze on the shoulder.]
Of course, Kari-san. You're a sweet girl. I'm happy to help where I can.
[She pauses, thinking. Ami would be out that night with Luke...and it would be nice to cook for someone again.]
Would you like to have dinner tonight? My roommate's got plans, and you sound like you could use some company.
[Action]
[There's a pause, as that nagging little voice in the back of Kari's head tries to tell her no, you should just go home, today was awful and Rei fixed it and you shouldn't bother her anymore.]
[But. Rei offered. And this clearly wasn't just an offer to be polite, even if she had noticed that most of the food in those bags of groceries were of the instant variety.]
[She pushes that little voice back.]
I'd... really like that!
[Action]
[She had noticed the instant-variety food, and it definitely struck her that Kari would probably like something decent to eat. And when Ami was out with Luke, she was just a little, teeny, tiny bit lonely. So this was a perfect solution. Maybe she could turn Kari's bad day into a nice one? She certainly hoped so, since Usagi wasn't here to do it anymore.
]
I'm glad. Lets get your groceries home, and then you can come over. I'll cook, but you'll have to help a bit. Alright?
[Action]
[Words are hard for her today, apparently. That little moment got to her more than she expected -- but she's still smiling, of course. She clears her throat and tries again.]
What I mean is I can help cook too. It's... more fun than cooking by yourself, isn't it?
[Action]
[Rei's...not quite beaming, but she's as close to it as she gets. Really, she's a guest. Let her pamper you, Kari.]
What do you think about curry?
[Action]
[They're just about at her building now -- though before they start up, she stops and turns back to Rei.]
Oh, uhm. I should probably warn you that I live on the top floor. [Which is usually a trip Kari makes halfway as Hoshikyo to avoid exhausting herself.] So. If you don't mind waiting, I can just run these up! I mean, since I'm used to it. And it's like. A lot of stairs.
[Action]
[She nods in assent.]
If you're sure. I'll be here.
[Action]
[But the moment she reaches the second floor stairwell, she ducks into one of the empty apartments and makes a quick transformation -- and then sprints the rest of the way up.]
[It takes more than a few minutes for her to finish up and come back down, once more as herself. Mysteriously, she's not all that out of breath.] All done!
[Action]
She stands there, scratching her chin and waiting patiently till Kari appears. She waves cheerily and nods towards home.]
Great. Let's get going then!
[Action]
Do we need to stop anywhere to pick things up to cook with? I mean, unless you're better at planning meals ahead than I am...
[Action]
She shakes her head though.]
No, I just gathered food yesterday. I'd planned on making curry tonight, since I can store it for later in the week. I've got all the vegetables and things. Though, if you prefer beef to chicken, we can stop and get that.
