[Hello, Luceti. Have you been enjoying the strange little time shifts that have been coming and going these past couple of months? Because Kari hasn't. In fact, she's in the middle of one right now, and it's extremely unpleasant. Why is that, you ask?]

[Because she was just inside the elevator when they suddenly decided to not exist anymore. Unfortunately, they only decided to stop existing on the floor she was on at the time, so there's nowhere for her to go. At least it didn't turn into a bottomless elevator shaft to drop her to her doom. But they did turn into some kind of hellish stairway-purgatory with no doors, no windows, and nothing but two sets of stairs going up and down that simply lead to walls.]

[Thankfully, she has her journal with her to live-blog the incident.]

It's been 20 minutes now.
I'm stuck in a building somewhere. Like, literally. The elevator disappeared and now I'm apparently stuck in the wall.
The possibility of escape seems low.
Updates to follow.

The first hour.
There's no windows in here. Not sure how much air I have. Probably a lot.
It's cold. And hot. I'm so hungry.
And I think I left some instant noodles in the microwave.

Hour 2 of Elevator Purgatory.
I'm starting to hear voices.
No, seriously, these walls are way too thin. Maybe if I knock loud enough the people on this floor will start to think the place is haunted?
I'm like this close to trying to break the wall down.

Hour 2 and 10 minutes.
Don't try to punch walls with your bare hands.
Especially using the arm you broke few weeks ago.
It will hurt and you will feel like a dumbass.

Hour 3.
All hope is lost.
I've resigned myself to Elevator Purgatory forever.
Tell my mom I love her.

[Okay she's clearly being a little overly dramatic. But she's bored, and this doesn't look like it's going away anytime soon, so have at it! Feel free to specify what time your character is responding to, otherwise I'll just assume Hour 3. EDIT: And for people who might try teleporting in to save her, there's also a 100% power-cap shift going on inside the room, so anyone who goes in will be stuck with her until the time shift ends!]

It should be next to the stairs by the entrance. I mean, assuming it didn't just up and vanish on every floor while trapping me in here.

[It didn't -- the elevator still appears to be existent on every floor. But the physical elevator itself is gone, so pressing the buttons won't do any good. Kari is stuck somewhere between the 4th and 5th floor.]

She does waste a bit of time pushing buttons, but after a few minutes of that, Rei heads up the stairs, placing a hand on each elevator door and trying to locate Kari's presence. When she hits the 4th floor, she gets a ping that's higher up. And rushing to the 5th floor, she notes Kari is lower. So somewhere in the middle, hmm?

"Kari-chan, are you in just...an elevator shaft? Or in the elevator still?"

I'm pretty sure it was an elevator at some point, but now it just looks like part of a stairwell. There's stairs going up and going down, but they both just lead to a dead-end wall. And there's no elevator door anymore either.

[Pretty much as if the elevator just decided to stop being an elevator on her floor only.]

"Ah...huh. Well I have a general idea of where you are. Sort of..."

She starts rapping on the walls nearest to Kari.

"Can you hear anything?"

...I can hear a knocking! Is that you? It's kinda quiet though...

[She tries knocking back -- it's faint since it's still a little bit lower than where Rei is.]

Rei does eventually pick up on it.

"And I hear you. So...let me see if I can get to you..."

And down she goes, meandering into one of the empty apartments near where she thinks Kari is, and knocking again.

[There's a knock back, and while it is louder, it still sounds a bit muffled. The walls around the elevator shaft may be a little too thick to just break down, if that's what she's going for.]

[Break down? Not quite. Rei's actively attempting to use a spell Helios had taught her, a spear of intense heat, to cut through the wall. It'll repair itself...but...maybe it'll get through?]

[Oh hey, it does!]

[It also scares the bejeesus right out of Kari, who hadn't been expecting such a thing, so with the new hole in the wall Rei gets to hear Kari's undignified squawk in stereo.]

What the hell was that!?

I'm cutting through the wall, Kari-chan.

[She keeps it up, slowly carving out a hole in the wall.]

Maybe gimme a little warning next time? You scared the pants right off of me, and I'm not even wearing any!

[...she means she's wearing a skirt but details.]

You'll be fine, don't be a baby.

[Yep, still cutting!]

Trust me.

B=Baby!? Come on, you're cutting through a wall. What if you cut through me!?

[But she does trust Rei -- she's just a bit tense after being stuck in here as long as she has. And she's also stepped pretty well back now, so she won't be in the line of fire.]
